| DM | You head (roughly)
towards the curtain. The barman doesn't even seem to notice you in the crowd.
As you pass near it you can hear the sounds of a dice game beyond. From the
voices it sounds like there are at least two people, maybe three. |
| Leanna | [Pauses and
turns to watch the lutist for a moment, still trying to cock an ear to the
conversation behind the curtain]
What do you reckon, Beri? Do we go in - and if so, what are we hoping to
achieve? We probably only want to spy on Akarios at the moment really, rather
than rather crassly announce our interest in his affairs... So maybe it would
be best just to listen from nearby if possible.
[Looks around for a convenient table within earshot, more in hope than
expectation] |
| DM | The one the ginger man
vacated is still free. |
| Leanna | Let's grab that
table while we can, and we can discuss while we're listening. We should sit
with our backs to the curtain, as if we're watching the players. |
| DM | You sit watching the
band and listen to the dice game beyond the curtain.
After a few minutes you are reasonably sure that there are only two people
back there. They seem to be friends and the game does not appear to involve
gambling. Their conversation seems to be about the game.
However, after a few minutes a dark haired man enters the inn and walks
straight through said curtain. |
| Player | Yes? |
| Newcomer | Picking up some
ale. |
| Player | What kind?
|
| Newcomer | Specularum's
best. |
| Player | Go right through.
|
| DM | There's a peculiar
noise, then the game starts up again. |
| Leanna | Aha - a password,
and a secret door? Perhaps we should return here some other time to
investigate the room, and see if we can set up some kind of spyhole or
listening post to the real meetings... |
| Berillia | Sounds like
the significant owl hooting in the night to me. What would a secret society do
without silly call signs, eh?
Hmm. You know, if we're talking hidden rooms and the like set up here, that
means this is a more or less permanent set-up - which means that, now we know
they're here, we don't need to go in tonight. Which means we can have all six
of us when the time comes, with both Narond and me fully charged. |
| DM | It sounded like a wooden
door opening and closing but there was an odd scraping noise as well.
|
| Leanna | This must mean
that the barkeep is in with it if that's the case, surely? |
| Berillia | Oh sod, I
hadn't thought of that. That means they're probably going to be aware of us
and what we look like before too long...
So that means we've got three choices. Go in and blag it, go in and try to
kick the crap out of them, or run like buggery and hide. For example, checking
out of Harry's and renting out the blacksmith's place for a few days.
I like option B, but the odds would be better with Dreylin and Shianara
along. |
| Leanna | I suggest that we
all leave now, investigate the outside of the pub quickly to see if we can
work out where that room is, and perhaps then get Harlon's permission to break
in, either later tonight or tomorrow. We might not even need to follow Akarios
now, but perhaps Dreylin and Shianara should still do that. |
| Berillia | Where did we
say we were going to meet the other two? I'm happy to carry on tonight once
we're all here. |
| Leanna | Probably back at
the Stag. I think that leaving now before they come back out and have another
chance to have a look at us, and maybe not following them, might just give us
enough leeway that they don't suspect that we're after them. I guess we could
even cover our backs further by searching out Akarios by day and buying some
rope from him, which would fit in with what we said at the bar, but that's
probably going too far - if they're sweating a little it's probably a good
thing.
Shall we go and discuss with the other two, quickly? |
| Berillia | Yes.
|
| DM | Berillia and Leanna
rejoin Narond and Habib at the table. |
| Berillia | Right, it
looks like we've found a meeting place for the Society here. They've got a
sign and counter-sign mentioning Specularum, and there may also be a hidden
door in the room behind the curtain.
Leanna suggested leaving here now, so as not to appear too suspicious, and
coming back later. I'd like to come back tonight and look for other ways in,
if at all possible after meeting back up with the other two.
The barman's probably in on this, so there may not be too much time before
they know who we are and what we look like. Hence moving sooner rather than
later.
What do you think? |
| Leanna | To my mind, there
may be little to be gained by going in now - we'll just make our presence (and
intentions, unless anyone has a fantastic idea for a cover story) even more
obvious than it may already have been, and for what? Have we actually got
enough evidence to convict anyone yet? If we are interrupting a meeting, I
suspect it might be better to do so with some Watch officials on board.
On the other hand, if we came back later after the pub has shut, we could
meet up with Dreylin and Shianara to see if they have discovered anything else
of interest, not to mention the possibility of searching their meeting room,
and even seeing if we could discover a way of eavesdropping on a future
meeting... Now I wonder - while we are here, I wonder if we could work out
what rooms might be above their meeting room? |
| Narond | However, should
we not go in now, we may never have this chance to catch and interrogate these
people again. They may change their meeting site, or something like that,
especially if they find out one of their members has been caught by the Watch.
I agree that doing something with some Watch officials would probably be more
useful, but we have the advantage of not looking like watchmen, and given
Harlon assigned us because he was short on watchmen probably means that isn't
likely to happen in the short term. So we have either got to wait a day or
more for watchmen, or dive in now, or possibly continue to watch to see if
members leave through the pub, and 'say hi' to them outside the pub as was the
original plan. |
| Leanna | Agreed. So which
do you prefer? Perhaps I'm being too cautious, but I can't see the benefit of
exposing ourselves so much right now. I don't see that there is a lot of
immediate urgency in our mission, myself. |
| Narond | [Raises his
eyebrow] |
| Editor | (What eyebrow?
Weren't they burnt off?) |
| Narond | Yeah, because in
the past couple of days not much has really happened in relation to this at
all. Only a murder, a riot and who knows what they will be planning next. I
feel there is some urgency and that we need to either do something tonight or
tomorrow, since the next phase of whatever their plan is will have to kick off
soon, if it hasn't already. |
| Berillia | I'm still for
getting out of here now and coming back later tonight. I'm with you on the
urgency, Narond, but it doesn't seem like such a great idea to go in with all
swords blazing while two of us are missing. |
| Leanna | So, shall we go
and find the others? And let's find out, not from the barman, when last orders
is. |
| Berillia | [Nods in
agreement] |
| DM | You enquire of the
barmaid as to the time of last orders. She tells you that they close in about
an hour's time.
On leaving the pub you peer into the shadows and can just make out a small
blue hin and a shivering elf. |
| Leanna | Hi guys, sorry
we've been so long. Let's move away from the inn a bit in case anyone comes
out and spots us.
[Recounts] A red-haired guy fitting the description of Akarios came in
and went into a curtained room. We went over and listened as someone else
entered and it seems there is a foyer with at least 2 guards playing cards,
plus what sounds like a secret door into a meeting room, with a password
combination:
'Picking up some ale.' - 'What kind?' - 'Specularum's best.'
We considered going straight through and confronting them, but decided to
come out and check you were OK, and then come back after closing time - give
it a good couple of hours until they clean up - and then break in and see what
we can find, and perhaps work out if we can set up a spyhole or listening
point anywhere in that room. I can't help but feel that the barman must be in
on it, so regrettably Akarios may have been tipped off now - although he
didn't seem to notice our presence. Beri - did I miss anything? I wouldn't
want these two to be under-informed... [Winks at the cleric]
If that's OK with you, I suggest that I have a look around the outside of the
inn and work out the best place to break in while the rest of you prepare
yourselves. The only remaining question is, do we carry on with the plan of
tailing Akarios? |
| Berillia | I assume
there wasn't any sign of Akarios out here at all then? |
| Dreylin | Well, just of
him going into the pub, we didn't notice anyone suspicious leaving. |
| Narond | I think it would
still be useful to have a couple of people on the inside while the pub is
open, on the off chance they notice others who enter or leave the meeting
area. |
| Dreylin | [Muses for a
moment] I'm not sure that we can afford to wait around on this one guys...
you all saw the state of the crowds today, and it can only get worse. We need
to give them the killer before full-scale riots start sweeping the town.
If all we do is tail and nail this guy, then that might be OK, but maybe we
should consider going to Harlon now and getting a squad of guards to come down
here and clean the place out. I think the plan of breaking in and finding a
way to observe the goings-on is a good one... if we had more time to work
with. |
| Narond | Yes, Leanna
suggested a similar thing, however I feel we have an advantage of not looking
like watchmen, therefore we should be able to gain entry easier, and without
the conspirators escaping like they might try when they hear massed watchmen
heading for the inn. And if you remember, Harlon did assign us to look down
here because he was short on watchmen and would likely have them tied up for a
couple of days following the riot. I don't think we can really wait at all
beyond this evening, and niether do I think we can get support from the Watch
or Harlon. |
| Leanna | I just don't see
that we have enough strong evidence to bring them down yet. Maybe we will
manage to get a couple of individuals, but surely Harlon would be more
interested in getting the real movers and shakers of the gang? What if we do
break into their room, and arrest them all, without knowing whether they have
any incriminating evidence on them - they just say they're friends meeting up
for a game of cards, and unless there are any draconian laws in Darokin about
societies, they get off scot free?!
If I've forgotten some vital piece of evidence that will nail these guys then
please let me know, but I think that another riot or murder might be a small
price to pay for stopping whatever they might have as their main agenda. At
best I think we could hope that today's rabble-rouser is in the room, but I
don't recall seeing him enter, myself. All we have is a bit of common rope
that we can't tie anyone to, a clandestine meeting, and some tunnels
commissioned by some cloaked men, and who met near the inn, not in it. Not
exactly going to convict anyone, is it? |
| Narond | I don't think
finding todays rabble rouser is likely, since we did arrest him earlier and
turned him over to Harlon. |
| Leanna | Ah yes, that was
who we arrested earlier. Sorry, I got him confused with the tunnelers. But you
see my point? |
| Dreylin | We do
have enough evidence to tie the red-haired guy to the tunnels and the murder,
and we have the authority to arrest him. So why don't we just do that... march
in and arrest him. Anyone who resists is obviously involved, and therefore can
also be taken in for questioning.
[Turns to Narond] I don't think I agree with your logic about them
hearing the Watch approaching, but I do take your point about how many might
be available and how long it might take to get them here so we probably have
to operate alone.
I think we should do a quick survey round the building and find the back
entrance... they must have an escape route... and then take them from both
sides. |
| Narond | Well, I didn't
mean being so literal with the hearing comment, but were I having a meeting of
a society I don't want people to know about I would certainly post guards and
possibly lookouts as well, but most likely in the pub, with an easy ability to
stall guards via a barroom brawl or something similar. But yes I do agree that
we need to do something about it this evening before they make their next
move. Looking for a most likely escape route sounds like a good plan to me.
|
| Leanna | Just remind me:
What's the evidence? That's he's red-haired? |
| Dreylin | OK, we have red
hairs connected to the murder site. We have a cap with red hairs in it
obtained from a butcher's spare room which matches the hair found at the
scene. We have the tunnel leading from the the murder scene to the butcher's
spare room and we have the map obtained nearby.
[Ticks them off his fingers] Finally, we have the wine bottle found in
the spare room which was purchased by one Akarios whom we have identified and
traced to the back room of that inn... |
| Leanna | OK, fine. Forgive
my failing memory, I find it difficult to keep track of all this over the
course of the investigation.
So - I'll go and have a look around the back, anyone care to join me?
|
| Dreylin | Sure, I could
use a bit of movement after standing out here for a while! |
| Leanna | [Thinks]
Oh, and by the way. Whilst we've got enough evidence to take Akarios in for
questioning, I'm not sure if we have enough to convict him of anything.
|
| Dreylin | [Grins]
But he doesn't know that... |
| Narond | Indeed, if done
right he will probably do something to convict himself... |
| Leanna | Right, let's go.
|
| DM | Leanna and Dreylin
stroll off round the inn.
After a while Dreylin comes back. |
| Narond | Anything?
|
| Dreylin | We've found a
back door to the curtained off area with the guards in it. Leanna suggests
that Shianara and I go in through the inn and distract the guards long enough
for the rest of you to get the jump on them. |
| Berillia | [Grins]
Sounds good to me! [Hefts her hammer] |
| Narond | Sounds like a
reasonable plan, let's go. |
| DM | Shianara and Dreylin
enter the inn while the rest of you head round the back.
The rear of the inn looks out into a small yard. Light from a single doorway
falls on the far wall.
Leanna is listening near the door. You join her. |
| Berillia | [Murmurs] Leanna and Habib, then us, Narond? |
| DM | The game stops and one
of the people through the door speaks to someone else. |
| Player | Yes? |
| Dreylin | Good evening,
lovely night isn't it! [Pauses for a moment]
Oh yes, there's some sort of password isn't there... now what was it? Ah yes,
'Picking up some ale'. |
| Player | What kind?
|
| DM | Silence falls. |
| Leanna | [Charges
in] Darokinian's the best in my opinion.
[Stabs the guard in the back] |
| DM | Habib, Berillia and
Narond creep in through the back entrance. Their lack of noise is impressive.
Inside two men advance on Dreylin and Shianara wielding a large sword and a
club.
Leanna skips silently over to the club wielder and stabs him sharply in the
shoulder. He screams (silently), turns (also silently) and staggers away from
Leanna before raising his club again. |
| Leanna | [Attempts to
hit him again] |
| DM | The staggering club
wielder swings back at Leanna. She deftly deflects the blow and slices the man
on his offside arm. He does not look happy.
Dreylin swings his axe at the swordsman. He reacts in time and jumps out of
the way, landing some feet away.
Meanwhile, Berillia swings at the other man. He steps away from her blow and
is narrowly missed by Narond. He looks upward briefly while mouthing some
words then points at the nearby mage.
Narond's eyes suddenly light up rendering him completely blind.
Shianara and Habib hang around at the back. |
| Narond | [Backs away
from where he thinks and hears the fight to be...] |
| DM | Leanna turns on the
reeling swordsman and drives her sword deep into his side. He screams silently
and, grabbing Leanna by the shoulder, rams his sword through her side before
falling to the floor. Dreylin seizes the opportunity and finishes him off.
Meanwhile, Berillia wings the other man before being hit hard across the
shoulder by his club. Narond extricates himself from the fight and heads for
the wall.
Shianara looks like he's about to do something then seems to think better of
it.
Habib guards the rear.
The remaining man dashes away avoiding blows from all directions. He takes a
swing at Shianara on his way past but it running too fast to hit accurately.
He vanishes though the rear entryway and into the night. |
| Berillia | [Curses] We probably don't have too much time now...
[Administers first aid to those who need it, then turns her attention to
Narond] |
| DM | Berillia patches up the
various wounds as best she can. She then turns to Narond and places her hands
over his eyes.
Her lips move for a moment and when she removes them, he can see clearly
again. |
| Berillia | [Waves at
Narond] |
| Leanna | [Starts looking
for a secret door, using her knowledge of the sounds it made to help locate
it] |
| DM | It takes all of 20
seconds for Leanna to open a hidden door in one of the walls. Beyond it is a
room so small that it can fit no more that two people.
On a series of shelves are piles of red garments and black, leather hoods.
|
| Leanna | Damn... Are we
too late to chase the guy? |
| DM | It's been a good couple
of minutes. |
| Leanna | [Notices a
difference in the sound it made, and carries on looking then, inside the new
room] |
| DM | Leanna continues
checking the walls. |
| Narond | I can see again,
marvellous. So what happened? |
| DM | There is a very dead
bloke on the floor. Leanna is bleeding through Berillia's bandagework.
|
| Leanna | I think I've
found another door back here, but I can't find the mechanism. [Indicates
the back wall of the chamber]
If all these people are in costume, we could dress up before we go find our
way into the other room. [Indicates the robes and hoods] |
| Dreylin | Somehow, I
doubt they have many Hin members... maybe I'm best sneaking along behind and
guarding the rear? |
| Leanna | Maybe you could
hide under Narond's skirts? [Smirks] |
| Dreylin | [Looks
shocked and offended] |
| Narond | He is not
guarding my rear that closely! [Shoots Leanna a disgusted
look] |
| Berillia | [Dons a
robe] |
| Narond | [Also dons a
robe] |
| Dreylin | [Glances out
into the bar to make certain nothing is amiss there] |
| DM | Berillia and Narond step
into the little room, almost filling it. They start donning robes and, as they
do so, the door to the little room swings shut behind them.
When it does so, the other wall opens up revealing a stone stairway that
heads downwards. It is lit with torches. |
| Narond | [Looks to see
if there's any obvious way to open the door from this side] |
| DM | Indeed there is - a
small catch. It's equally obvious how to close the door that's currently open.
|
| Berillia | [Tries to
reopen the outer door] |
| DM | You attempt to reopen
the outer door while leaving the inner door open. The door seems to be stuck.
|
| Narond | Looks like the
outer door will only work if we shut the inner door... [Tries this
out] |
| DM | You close the inner door
and operate the catch on the outer door. The outer door opens. |
| Leanna | What happened?
Other than the obvious... |
| Narond | The door shut...
We opened it, though it does appear that if you have this outer door open the
inner door is shut, and if the outer door is shut the inner door can be
opened. |
| Leanna | OK - shall we all
get robed up, or are just a couple of people going to go through? That might
be better, as it would appear that the room is only designed to accommodate a
couple of people at a time, and trying to force more of us through might be
just as suspicious as not being in robes. |
| Berillia | [Briefly
indicates to the others where the two catches are for opening the two
doors]
Narond and me first, since we've already got robes? |
| Leanna | Fine. |
| Berillia | [Moves
towards the inner catch whilst shooing various people out of the
closet] |
| Leanna | Chuck us out the
rest of the robes? |
| Berillia | [Does
so] |
| DM | Having done so she shuts
the door on herself and Narond.
You are inside the small room. The inner door pops open. You step through the
open door and into the passage beyond. After shutting the inner door you stand
in the quiet. |
| Narond | [Whispers]
I suppose we'd best move a few steps down the steps to allow the next lot to
get in here. |
| Berillia | [Nods and
and does so - quietly] |
| DM | Meanwhile, outside...
|
| Leanna | I suggest that
myself and either Shianara or Habib get kitted out and go into the room next,
try to have a listen at the inner door and then consider going through while
Dreylin and the other person stay on watch here. |
| Dreylin | Well since I'm
likely to be noticed even if I dress up... I'm having Siswa flashbacks... that
makes sense. |
| Shianara | [Quietly] Makes sense to me.
[Gets 'kitted out' in some robes, assuming there are plenty, making sure to
hide his most elf-like features] |
| DM | Shianara and Leanna
change into robes and head into the small room leaving Dreylin and Habib in
the room.
Shianara and Leanna step into the room and shut the door. The hidden door at
the far end clicks open. |
| Leanna | Let's move
through and see what is there. |
| DM | Shianara and Leanna step
through, dressed in robes, and join Narond and Berillia.
The door clicks open again and Dreylin and Habib join you in the passageway.
All is quiet. |
| Leanna | Shall we go down?
|
| Narond | [Nods]
Ladies first. |
| Leanna | [Grins] |
| DM | You head down the
stairway. It leads to a dark, roughly-cut passageway that runs straight along
for several hundred yards. As you get closer you see an archway at the far
end. The room inside is lit by several red fires and you can make out the
forms of robed people and hear the sounds of voices.
You are about 20 yards from the archway, crouching in the darkness. |
| Leanna | [Whispering] Shall we eavesdrop for a little while before
making our presence felt? |
| Dreylin | Seems a good
plan. I'll sneak a bit closer and see if I can hear what they're saying... and
maybe see if there's another exit.
[Tries to gauge how many people there are from the voices and
shadows] |
| DM | From the murmuring maybe
20 or 30 people.
Dreylin sneaks off, and shortly returns. |
| Narond | Did you see or
hear anything useful? |
| Dreylin | There are about
25 of them around the edges of the room with three leaders on a dais at the
far end. They seem to have one of their number tied to a chair in the centre
of the room. I don't think there are any other exits. |
| Narond | What are they
doing to the one in the chair? |
| Dreylin | They appeared
to be pointing and whispering. I expect the leaders are working up to making
an example of him. I don't see that we can expect to take on all of these
people at once... although they're probably not all fighters of any use and we
could probably hold them off in this corridor. Our best bet would probably be
to capture the leaders, but I doubt that would be easy, and there's no
guaranteeing that there isn't a disguised escape route on the dais.
Time for someone to go for the guard, maybe? |
| Leanna | Perhaps - it's a
tricky situation really as the guard may well not arrive in anything like good
time. If we do do that, I'd suggest that you might be the best to go as you're
the only one without a disguise. Speaking of disguises, having gone to the
trouble of picking up these robes, can we come up with a cover story to
actually get into the meeting?
[Thinks for a second] We've not actually found any women acting within
the society yet, have we? If we were to go in, perhaps Berillia and I should
stay at the back and leave the talking to others... |
| Dreylin | I had a feeling
someone was going to suggest I go, but may I point out that I also have the
shortest legs and will therefore be slower to reach help than any of the rest
of you guys. Maybe Shianara or Habib should go since they seem to have become
pacifists all of a sudden... |
| Leanna | I had a feeling
you might say that, and I agree, but for some reason I felt the need to
suggest it anyway. I do apologise. [Winks at Dreylin] |
| Narond | I do agree that
getting the guard back might take far too long, and should we get into trouble
here then the more people the better chance we stand should things go badly.
But sending someone back still sounds like a good idea. |
| DM | A voice booms from
within the red room. |
| Voice | This man stands
accused of breaking the rules and doctrines of the Society. Will any stand to
defend him? |
| DM | After a long pause the
voice continues. |
| Voice | So no one will
speak for him. I will read the charges... |
| DM | As you listen you
realise that the voice is booming but somehow frail.
All falls quiet again. |
| Dreylin | Time to sneak
closer again, I think. |
| Leanna | Just you again,
Dreylin, or should more of us get closer now we know the situation? |
| Dreylin | Well how does
this sound: you guys go in and mingle... a couple of you try to get close to
the dais, while the rest stay near the door. At an opportune moment I'll cause
a distraction and those near the dais can rush up and capture the leaders.
That should act as a deterent for anyone fighting us, while those near the
door can stop people from running away...? |
| Leanna | OK, why not -
Narond and Habib should probably lead the way as they're male just in case I'm
right about the society being exclusive. And Beri and myself can bring up the
rear, or hang back with you. Meanwhile Shianara goes for the Watch? |
| DM | You creep closer. Before
you enter the room the voice continues... |
| Voice | The charges are
that without orders from the Society, you did use our transit sytems to enter
the house of the girl, Poppy Toney and did murder her. You had received no
orders to carry out such an act and in doing so have grievously exposed the
Society to outsiders. |
| DM | The man tied to the
chair responds in heavily accented Darokinian. |
| Akarios | It was under
orders. I swear it. |
| Narond | [Whispers]
Perhaps it might be more useful to capture the man tied to the chair, before
they kill him. |
| Leanna | Maybe - but it
sounds like we should continue to listen for a little while longer. |
| Dreylin | Yes, I'd
definitely like to hear what he has to say in his defense, and if he knows who
gave him the orders then they might try to escape... |
| Leanna | And if they did,
we could step out in front of them and stop them escaping, which would earn us
the gratitude of the members of the Society and make it less likely that they
would kill us for interrupting their meeting. Maybe! [Smiles
wryly] |
| Voice | [Thundering]
No such orders were given! I would know if they were. |
| DM | You can see him waving
wildly now.
He hands a document to the figure on his right. |
| Voice | Read the
proclamation of punishment. |
| DM | The figure takes the
document but hesitates. |
| Dreylin | I think it's
time for you guys to sneak in there while he's ranting... |
| Leanna | OK then - Habib
and Beri to the left and Narond and myself to the right? And Shianara in the
middle, since he appears still to be with us? |
| Dreylin | Maybe it'd be
better with Habib and yourself one side, and Narond and Berillia to the other;
Shiannara stays here with me? |
| Leanna | Sure, why not.
|
| DM | You edge your way into
the room. One of the hooded figures looks at you. |
| Man | [Whispering to the
party] Honestly, can't you get here on time?! |
| DM | The figure with the
parchment clears his throat and speaks in an almost deliberately husky way.
|
| Man | I hereby sentence
you to removal from the Veiled Society by the swiftest method. This to be
carried out by... |
| DM | At this juncture the man
tied to the chair starts struggling again. |
| Akarios | That's him! He
gave the order. |
| DM | A small argument breaks
out on the dais. |
| Dreylin | [Whispers
from the shadows] You can use the distraction to get closer to the dais.
|
| Leanna | [Moves a bit
closer to the dais, with Habib in tow] |
| Narond | [Does likewise,
with Berillia in tow] |
| DM | You variously head
towards the dais where a heated row is now occurring. The second man breaks
away and shouts to the crowd. |
| Man | Kill him! |
| DM | The hooded Society
members descend on the man in the chair. |
| Leanna | [Wonders about
the 'Kill him' guy's voice] |
| DM | Now you think about it,
he sounds oddly familiar. You can't quite place the voice itself but something
in the intonation rings a bell. |
| Dreylin | [Steps out of
the shadows] Stop in the name of the Law! |
| Leanna | [Surreptitiously draws her sword underneath her
cloak] |
| DM | Nobody appears to hear
Dreylin.
Assorted members of the Society descend on the unfortunate in the chair. He
is beaten, kicked and strangled. At one point his hood comes off revealing him
to indeed be Akarios, the red-haired Karameikan.
Meanwhile the argument on the dais is turning into a fight with the quiet
third man holding 'booming voice' and 'kill him' apart.
Booming voice tries to shout something but is dragged behind the gong. The
crowd does not notice their leaders' disappearance. |
| Leanna | [Runs behind
the gong to see what's going on] |
| Berillia | [Tries to
get closer to the group hitting Akarios]
[Yells] LISTEN, will you?! The Watch is up above! Let's get out!
|
| People | The watch?
They're on to us!
Flee! Flee! |
| DM | The shout is taken up
and the room swiftly turns into a scrambling mass of people. They make for the
exit, clearing the room quickly.
In the confusion, Leanna takes the opportunity and slips behind the gong.
